Home Security Tips For The Holidays

While you’re busy making memories, we will be here to ensure your pet’s needs are met and your home looks lived-in and secure. Even if your furry loved ones get to go with you on vacation, home security is still important. To truly relax and enjoy your time away, it’s crucial to ensure your home is safe and protected.

Here’s how we can help:

  • Home Security Visits: For just $19 per 15 minute visit or $25 per 30 minute visit, we’ll check on your house, water your plants, bring in the mail, rotate your blinds and lights, and anything else to keep your home looking like someone’s home. We can even swing by and bring packages in.

Here are some additional helpful tips to boost your home security while you’re enjoying your travels:

1. Secure Your Entry Points:

  • Remember to change door, garage and/or lockbox codes regularly.
  • Double-check all doors and windows are locked and secure before leaving.
  • Consider installing additional security measures like deadbolts or reinforced door jambs.
  • If you have a garage door access code, avoid sharing it publicly or on social media.

2. Control the Light:

  • Utilize timers on lights to create the illusion of occupancy, especially at night.
  • Consider investing in smart lighting systems that can be controlled remotely.
  • Leave blinds partially open during the day to maintain a natural look.

3. Manage Mail and Deliveries:

  • Arrange for mail and newspaper delivery to be stopped or collected by us at Hot Diggity.
  • Avoid leaving delivery instructions on your door that could inform potential intruders of your absence.
  • Ask neighbors to remove any flyers or packages left on your doorstep.
  • Arrange for a Hot Diggity member to stop by and secure packages for you.

4. Secure Valuables:

  • Store valuables like jewelry, electronics, and cash in a secure safe or lockbox.
  • Avoid posting photos on social media that reveal your location or expensive belongings in your home.
  • Consider using a security camera system for additional monitoring.

5. Enlist Help from Trusted Individuals:

  • Inform a trusted neighbor of your travel dates and provide them with emergency contact information.
  • Ask them to keep an eye on your property, collect mail, and park their car in your driveway occasionally.
  • Consider hiring a house sitter for extended vacations for extra security.

By following these simple steps, you can enhance your home security and enjoy your vacation with complete peace of mind, knowing your beloved pets and/or property are safe and sound. If you want to know more about scheduling services just email us at [email protected]
